Background of the Study
E-governance plays a critical role in the modernization of administrative functions in universities. In Sokoto North Local Government Area, Sokoto State, universities are increasingly relying on ICT infrastructure to streamline operations such as student registration, resource management, and communication with stakeholders (Ahmed & Yusuf, 2023). However, many universities still struggle with optimizing their ICT infrastructure to support e-governance initiatives effectively. Issues such as slow data processing speeds, inadequate server capacities, and unreliable networks hinder the smooth operation of these systems.
The optimization of ICT infrastructure for e-governance in universities will improve service delivery, enhance transparency, and increase the overall efficiency of administrative processes. This study seeks to identify ways to optimize the infrastructure to support seamless e-governance systems and improve university operations in Sokoto North.
Statement of the Problem
While the use of ICT infrastructure in universities in Sokoto North has grown, there are significant challenges related to its optimization for e-governance. Many universities face issues such as inadequate infrastructure, slow system performance, and poor network connectivity, which hinder the effective implementation of e-governance initiatives. This study seeks to investigate how ICT infrastructure can be optimized to support efficient and transparent e-governance systems in these universities.
Objectives of the Study
To assess the current state of ICT infrastructure in universities in Sokoto North Local Government Area.
To identify the challenges that hinder the optimization of ICT infrastructure for e-governance in universities.
To propose strategies for optimizing ICT infrastructure to enhance e-governance in universities.
